The Heritage Project
Honouring our past. Caring for today. Building for tomorrow.
Thanks to the support of the National Lottery Heritage Fund, we are restoring and celebrating the historic home of Lovechurch. As we preserve the stories of the past, we are also investing in the future by creating a welcoming, and sustainable space where people of every generation can encounter Jesus, grow in faith and discover the love of God.
About the Project
We took ownership of the Grade II listed site of St Swithun's in 2015. It is a phenomenal heritage asset that was built, as is engraved on one corner stone, Ad majorem Dei gloriam, "to the greater glory of God". Through faithful restoration and sensitive enhancement, our aim is to steward this asset for the good of our local community and the advancement of Christianity in Bournemouth.
The site is busy with different expressions of Christian mission and worship throughout the week - many run in partnership with other local charities. Some years ago we also made a commitment to pursue a "Net Zero by 2030" creation goal.
Phase One has been to repair the enormous West Window, and to replace the obsolete heating system with environmentally responsible Air Source Heat Pumps.
We are so grateful for our partner agencies that have enabled this work, including The National Lottery Heritage Fund."
